The Cat in the rain relationship crisis!

The short story Cat In The Rain By Ernest Hemingway the story explores the relationship of a American couple that are vactioning in Italy. The couple is a very different, the husband seems logical and mature and very unaware of his wifes needs and wants. The wife seems young and trapped in a realtionship that is dry and lacking passion, the story referes to the the american lady as a wife in the first part of the story and as the story goes on and we start to see the other side of this lady the author changes the phrasing to girl. This younge lady is in a marriage that is lacking an emotional and physical connection, so she wants to be rescued and feel loved and fullfilled by the itailan hotel owner/manager. The lady is the cat caught in the rain, she wants somone to come save her from the down pour that is her marriage. I think the husband is older and is very oblivious to her needs, FOR EXAMPLE their in a hotel room and its raining outside and their reading! common. The women wants to feel, she wants to be alive again and be able to feel a cat purring on her lap, she wants long hair that she can feel on the nape of her neck, she just wants to feel somthing. she feels numb and wants to be able to feel again, and she seems to think that the italian inn keeper can fufill this need and want for her. The wife defently had some conflict with herself and her feelings towards her marriage and the italian hotel manager. I think that she is dealing with issues with herself and is looking for a bandaid to cover up the problem, and shes useing the italian man to rescue help rescue her. This husband and wife need to be open with eachother and say how they feel, maybe they just are going through a dry spell, but whatever you do in life you have to work for it and i think their marriage is one of thoes cases. They need to figure it out instead of ignoring eachothers needs and covering it up with false bandaids.
